About Tanisha...
Tanisha is a committed Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with a passion for supporting children’s speech, language and communication development. With a background in education, Tanisha has spent ten years working across secondary, primary, resourced provisions, and specialist schools. During this time, she took the lead on speech and language support, running intervention groups that focused on improving students speech, language, and communication skills. Her love for working with children and the power of learning through play and specialised interventions inspired her to pursue a career in speech and language therapy.
Since joining SpeechWise in January 2022, Tanisha has played a vital role in supporting therapists to deliver interventions, collaborating with school staff to enhance children’s communication environments, and working directly with children to meet their individual needs. She enjoys the challenge and adaptability of the role, finding joy in creating new connections with the children and professionals she works with. Tanisha is particularly passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as those with Autism. Tanisha plans to further her career by pursuing her Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy at University in September 2025 .
Tanisha’s top tip for supporting communication is to follow a child’s lead, even if it feels a little silly! By relaxing, engaging, and embracing playfulness, adults can create a pressure free environment where meaningful connections naturally flourish. This approach makes communication enjoyable for both the child and the adult, fostering confidence and connection through fun and interaction.
Tanisha holds an Enhanced DBS check.
