Sue Malpass

Speech and Language Therapist

About Sue...

Sue, a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, joined SpeechWise in September 2025 after 12 years at a mainstream primary school in Marple. There, she gained valuable experience delivering speech and language therapies and assessments, collaborating closely with NHS Speech and Language Therapists to support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs.

She worked with children from Nursery to Year 6, providing interventions for speech articulation, language, and social communication. She also worked in a Specialist Resource Provision with children having complex needs like non-verbal communication and Autism.

Sue set up and managed the school’s Speech and Language coordination and trained staff to deliver therapies for Blank Language structures, Narrative, Colourful Semantics, Lego Therapy, and Modelling Language. She also supported the Pastoral team with Social and Communication interventions and ensured appropriate visual and communication strategies in the classroom.

In doing so, Sue developed wonderful professional relationships with children and staff, as well as the parents she also supported. She feels privileged to do her job and know that she is helping children and their families to develop new skills, better communication, understanding and confidence.
