Gail Kane

Speech & Language Therapist

About Gail...

Gail is the Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist for the Teens+ service. She became a speech and language therapist to make a meaningful, practical difference in people’s lives. Passionate about empowering young people, she is dedicated to helping them advocate for themselves and develop lifelong communication skills.
Committed to a neurodiversity-affirming approach, Gail continuously develops her skills as an ally and supporter. She believes in working collaboratively, ensuring that the voices of young people, their families, and their supporters are central to her work.
Gail qualified from the University of Reading in 2004 with a BSc in Linguistics and Language Pathology and spent 16 years in the NHS before joining SpeechWise in 2020. Throughout her career, she has worked in various roles, supporting young people and adults with diverse speech, language, and communication needs. In her current role, she works directly with teens in educational and community settings while also providing supervision and contributing to service development within the team.
Her top tip for supporting young people with communication needs? Take the time to get to know them and their interests. Building a genuine connection not only makes support more meaningful but can also lead to unexpected and fascinating conversations!
Outside of work, Gail loves being outdoors—especially splashing through muddy puddles on off-road runs!
Gail is registered with the HCPC, RCSLT, ASLTIP and holds an Enhanced DBS check.
