About Beth...

Beth is a Speech and Language Therapist working at SpeechWise. Beth’s passion for speech and language therapy stems from her desire to support children to communicate and make a meaningful impact in their lives. She loves the opportunity to build strong rapport and relationships with the young people she works with, creating a safe and trusting environment for them to engage and interact. Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending time in nature, catching up with friends, and has even taught her dog to communicate using AAC voice buttons!

Beth graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2018 with a BMedSci (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy. She gained valuable experience working in the NHS before joining SpeechWise in 2021. Beth now works across a variety of settings, including mainstream and specialist primary schools, secondary schools, as well as supporting families to develop their child’s communication at home. Beth loves the variety in her role, working with children of all ages – from toddlers to teenagers – and tailoring her approach to meet each individual’s unique needs.

Beth has extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. She is particularly passionate about neurodiversity-affirming, child-led approaches and believes that every child deserves the opportunity to communicate in a way that feels natural and meaningful to them. Beth is particularly interested in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and enjoys helping neurodivergent individuals and those with selective mutism express themselves in whatever way works best for them

Beth’s top tip for supporting children with speech and language difficulties is to respect all forms of communication and make it fun! Whether a child communicates through speech, AAC, gestures, or scripts, every method is valid. Play, sing, be silly, and get creative—learning happens best when a child feels safe, engaged, and excited to interact.

Beth is registered with the HCPC, RCSLT and holds an Enhanced DBS check.
